Make Domino IQ available for all apps from the sideshelf

As an End User, I need to be able to use Domino IQ features from anywhere in my Notes client, because It will greatly improve me Notes experience and mean that I don't have to have a developer include it in my app that takes too long.

Summary

Enable Domino IQ as a client-wide capability that can be launched from the Notes side shelf across all supported apps and work contexts. This should make Domino IQ consistently available regardless of which Notes application the user is currently working in.

Problem

Today, access to Domino IQ depends on whether it has been included in a specific app experience. This creates an inconsistent user experience, limits adoption, and forces users to rely on app-level implementation before they can benefit from Domino IQ features.

Goal

Provide a single, consistent entry point for Domino IQ in the Notes side shelf so users can discover and use supported capabilities from anywhere in the client.

Scope

  • Add Domino IQ access to the Notes side shelf.

  • Make the entry point available across all supported Notes apps and contexts in the client.

  • Ensure the side shelf experience is reliable without requiring per-app developer integration.

  • Preserve appropriate entitlement, authentication, and availability checks before showing or enabling Domino IQ functionality.

Out of scope

  • Creating new Domino IQ capabilities as part of this feature.

  • Changes to Domino IQ model behavior, response quality, or backend intelligence unrelated to access from the side shelf.

User value

  • Users can access Domino IQ faster and more consistently.

  • Users do not need to wait for a developer to enable Domino IQ in each application.

  • Domino IQ becomes easier to discover and use as part of normal Notes workflows.

Functional requirements

  1. The Notes client must provide a visible Domino IQ entry point in the side shelf.

  2. The entry point must be available from all apps within the Notes client.

  3. The side shelf experience should maintain context where appropriate and must not disrupt the user’s current work.

  4. When a user opens Domino IQ from the side shelf, the experience must load without requiring app-specific configuration.

  5. The system must respect ACL, Roles and ECL.

  6. If Domino IQ is unavailable, the client must provide a clear and actionable message to the user.

Acceptance criteria

    Domino IQ can be opened from the Notes side shelf.

    Users can access Domino IQ from all supported Notes apps without app-specific implementation.

    Access is correctly gated based on entitlement, authentication, and feature availability.
