Sadly, the search isn't good enough for power users.
It may be good enough for normal, or light users.
At the moment I never find what I need, with the given search. An I receive those 300 mails per day: a stronger (and working) search is badly needed.
We've heard this one a bit. The danger on this one is that while it's worthwhile to give faceted search a bit more granularity, we don't want to recreate a complex set of search parameters that slow people down. Better to have progressive type search capabilities within the faceted search.
