The video quality during Sametime meetings is noticeably lower compared to meetings held with the same groups of participants using Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. As a result, Sametime is perceived as an inferior product.
The video framerate is currently limited to approximately 7–8 frames per second, which creates the impression of very poor video quality and negatively impacts the overall user experience.
At the moment, administrators have no available options to control video quality parameters, such as video quality level or framerate.
Interestingly, during encrypted meetings, the framerate increases, which significantly improves the user experience. This indicates that there may be room for improving or optimizing video quality settings in Sametime.
For this reason, it seems reasonable to enable at least global configuration of the default quality profile (e.g., via a configuration file or a setting available in the administration console), so that organizations with the appropriate network infrastructure can consciously choose higher video transmission quality.
