The Mac has a function where a user can get foreign characters by long pressing the desired letter key and more options for the pressed latter will show in a top menu for the user to select. For example, when typing in Italian (for instance) and wanting to use accented letters such as the letter à, the users does a long-press on the a and it gives him the choice of various versions of the letter a. However, when the users chooses one version, such as à, the system will type the normal letter a before the accented version, thus ending up with 2 letter a and the user has the deleted the one not accented.
The user uses the standard English keyboard. He has Czech, Maltese and Italian languages installed too. If the Mac is set to use the Italian keyboard and then use a long-press for accented character it works fine but one needs to constantly change from one language to the next.
This is not happening on iNotes and other third-party applications such as Microsoft Word, etc. It is only happening on HCL Notes. The issue is not specific to a Notes client version but has been there for a long time.
