Every once in awhile its good to get back to the basics to make a point. Its so easy to get confused by the many acronyms that go along with our business.
The way I look at Domino it has three primary parts: a forms generation tool (Designer), a database in which to store those forms (.nsf), and email to pass those forms around in a workflow setting.
If you take those three parts, wrap them in a secure environment, and make them easily available on all modern platforms, you have Domino/Notes/Nomad/etc.
Isn't that what Domino is? Doesn't every company in the world need it? Who does it better than Domino? Who does it other than Domino!?
Why is it so difficult to market it to everyone? It amazes me that its not the most commonly used software in business.
If I am disappointed with anything about HCL, its that their marketing seems to be a continuation of the glitzy, complicated marketing that IBM employed. I'd like to see them get back to basics and speak in plain language everyone can understand. Where are the YouTube videos that do this and compare/contrast Domino to its competitors, if there are any?
I'd also add calendar, to do lists and social (>Sametime).
