Periodic CScan of databases at rest

Scanning mail data in the mail flow is a great addition to the Domino 12.

But this feature would be mainly useful for customers having no external SMTP gateway mail scan in place already.

Scanning only on the company edge leaves the door open for viruses spread inside the company, when the pattern did not know the virus at the time the mail was delivered.

Periodic scan for all databases would introduce additional security. Databases could be scanned completely or with a cutoff interval (like scan daily the last 30 days and scan all data once per week).

Adding scan for databases on rest would leverage the existing back-end and would increase the use cases for CScan dramatically.

    Yes, I was wondering if Domino mailscan could do that...untill I found this idea and I now know that the answer is NO.

    We are now using TrendMicro Mailscanner. Because of the fact that TM Mailscan is getting older and older, we need to consider another vendor or no vendor at all and upgrade to CAPI method of scaning.

    The current CSCAN version only runs in the mail.box hook, but we also need to weekly scan for zerodays.

    an not to tight interfac / api would be very nice for this ...

    for a company haveing virus issues, it might be nice if related technologies could get used whenever a file is attached /detached on other apps, too.
