Advanced database properties such as "Don't overwrite Free space", "Don't allow Headline Monitoring" AND "Don't allow simple search" fields are something that are needed to be enabled on the database specifically and is not something that can be updated in the template and a design refresh or a new db creation from the template would get those properties.
As per few SPR's found it says the below logic:
- These advanced fields are turned off by default and need to be explicitly enabled on the database. Since It would be more controversial to turn on these properties via the template and require administrators to disable them on individual databases. And these properties should be used with care and that is why they must be enabled explicitly.
Though enabling it for everu new registed Notes users is an additional task for the administrators, thus we expect if those advanced database properties can be applied through certain policy mechanisms as well?
And we also expect those fields of this type to be well documented in the Domino Administrator's Guide as well.
Template updates/refresh is supposed to be done on one server (the administration server of that NSF) only in order to prevent design conflicts. Some advanced properties are server specific and do not replicate by design. Your idea to have more control over the advanced properties of a database is good, but the solution to use a template for that may not be sufficient.
