Currently, collapsible Sections in the HCL Notes client can only be expanded or collapsed manually by the user or configured with static default behavior.
The idea is to allow the expanded/collapsed state of a Section to be controlled dynamically through a formula.
This would enable developers to automatically expand or collapse Sections depending on:
Example use cases:
Automatically expand sections containing validation errors
Collapse advanced settings unless a checkbox is enabled
Expand important workflow information based on document status
Show simplified forms by default while keeping advanced sections collapsed
A possible implementation could be similar to existing formula-based properties already available in Notes Designer.
For example:
Benefits:
More dynamic and user-friendly forms
Improved usability and readability
Reduced visual clutter in complex documents
Better adaptation of forms to different workflows and user roles
Less need for custom scripting or workaround solutions
This enhancement would modernize form behavior in HCL Notes while remaining fully compatible with the existing Section concept.
