Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Support Mouse-Over Image Resources in Views and Table Backgrounds

HCL Notes already supports horizontal image resource sets that can display different image states such as:

  • normal

  • mouse-over

  • selected

  • mouse-down

This allows developers to create interactive rollover effects and more dynamic user interfaces.

Documentation:
HCL Notes Designer Documentation – Creating Image Resource Sets

However, these image resource sets are currently not supported in:

  • Views when using “Use Column Value as Image”

  • Table backgrounds in forms and pages

The idea is to extend support for existing image resource set functionality to these UI elements as well.

This would allow developers to create more modern, visually appealing, and interactive Notes applications without requiring custom workarounds or external technologies.

Benefits:

  • More attractive and modern application design

  • Better visual feedback and user interaction

  • Consistent support for image resource capabilities across Notes Designer components

  • Reduced need for custom scripting solutions

  • Improved flexibility for Notes application developers

Since the functionality already exists in Notes Designer image resources, this enhancement could potentially reuse existing rendering capabilities instead of introducing a completely new feature.
