Improve YAML based source control feature

The YAML based ODP looks absolutely promising, but currently feels like a step backwards because it contains less readable information. That makes it impossible to do code reviews or check what changes others have made.


Most of the 'text-based' contents in the NSF seem to be exported already fine to the YAML files (Java, XPages, custom controls, themes, faces-config, etc). But for us to consider using the YAML format we also need a readable export of:

  • View column details & column headers: at least the information that's available in the current XML based format

  • Source code for Java agents

From what I heard the YAML based ODP syncing is a lot faster, so it would be great if we could have auto import/export to that as well (it seems like that isn't working currently, or am I wrong?)

    To preserve the future potential of HCL Domino, it is absolutely necessary to have the complete ODP structure of an NSF database, including all details. The fact that many design items/details are covered by unreadable CDs in YAML files today means it is not possible to fully and effectively utilize the power of AI tools like Claude Code and similar tools. Because there is little to no information about the HCL's strategy in this area, it's very hard to prepare development plans for the near future. We need to change that situation as soon as possible!

    That the sync process is running fluidly -- way more better than the former one -- is elementary important for AI-supported development with ondisk synced Domino databases in VS Code with Copilot Pro!

    Please push that case!

    What is the process? Nothing seems to have happened for quite a while... :-/

    Totally agree! And really hope this will be improved quickly - as it really is a very promising concept.

    Would also like to see how HCL would best suggest to get and implement improvements to other areas missing as I think this is very import for the future of this concept.
