After HCL has taken over the Domino product landscape, we were told to use this AHA to collect ideas for improvement.
And we did. But: Hello HCL, are you still there?
Real improvements, that matters for us developers? ... None!
As a developer, I do not need the next half-baked add-on like XPages, AppDevPack, REST-API, Leap, Volt, transparent PNGs, ...
I need a working implementation or connection of / to a source code control to manage my code, to check changes, to run code analysis and identify problematic sequences automatically (yes, there are tools out there for that and they would also be available for LotusScript, when this monolithic black box would talk to the world).
Without that support, solutions in the Domino-World will stay to be the zillionst app for a wine or car list. Today's applications grew in their complexity. And without a working source code control we are not able to analyse that complexity or even to discover methods of simplification within that complexity.
When this issue is not addressed correctly in a very short time, Domino is dead then for all developers who want to deliver maintainable applications.
I am done with waiting!
And another detail has leaked: this will only work for XPages (some day), but not for the legacy elements, ie. Forms, Views, Agents. Great improvement. Oh, wait. That's what we already have.
